Undercurrents is a small, 2 by 3 inch painting, layered with tempera to explore shades of green from lime to deep emerald. I worked with swirling, organic shapes that flow into each other, with white accents tracing through to emphasize the movement and form. The piece suggests natural growth—like leaves or underwater foliage—held in quiet balance yet full of energy. I approached this work during a moment of artist’s block, allowing color and shape to guide me without a fixed plan. It’s framed simply in black with a white mat, resting on a small easel, inviting a close look at rhythm and subtle shifts within a compact space.
