Untethered is a compact oil painting, just 4 by 4 inches, where I worked exclusively with a knife to build layers of thick, textured paint. The piece captures a dynamic burst of yellow and gold at its center, surrounded by deep purples and blacks that pull the eye inward, while bold touches of red, blue, and green energize the edges. The composition moves with a restless energy, reflecting the experience of breaking free and letting go. This was an exploration of motion and intensity expressed through an impasto technique, allowing the surface itself to carry the emotion of release.
