Lunar Tides is a compact,5 by 5-inch mixed media piece that explores an otherworldly landscape shaped by rugged peaks and snow-covered slopes. I worked the foreground using a palette knife to build texture that contrasts with the smooth, glowing surface of a large celestial body hovering in the background. Two smaller luminous forms hover nearby, heightening the sense of a cosmic scene unfolding beyond our usual view. The palette of whites, blues, and pale yellows grounds the terrain while the dark sky frames the composition, amplifying its surreal, quiet intensity. This piece grew from my fascination with super moons and the mysteries of deep space, aiming to convey that space where rugged earth meets silent cosmos.
